Looking forward to church...

So we went to a new church last Sunday and I loved it. I cannot wait to go back this Sunday. I am hoping we can get there earlier though and not have to sit in the balcony. I have been wanting to check this church out for awhile because our church is in Nashville and we have not been attending regularly because it is kind off an all day thing. I want Emma to have a solid church family and this church truly seems to have it all. Several young families, a pastor that Jon already knows from his past church and his sermon was awesome, our doctor and even a few of our friends attend somewhat regularly there. I am hoping to meet some wonderful new people there and hopefully start attending a Bible group too. Anyways, I just wanted to say that I am so looking forward to Sunday!

I cannot believe that it is going to be August next week...our summer is flying by and I want to make the most of it! We are hoping to squeeze in a weekend away to Holiday World with my family next month. I know that Emma would love the kiddie rides, splash park area and the indoor pool at the hotel plus more time with Gramma & Grampa!

They are actually coming down here next weekend to keep Emma while Jon takes me on our only second "real" date since we had Emma. He surprised me a few months ago with tickets to see Paula Deen live. We are going to go somewhere nice for dinner before...so I won't be hungry watching her cook! I love her and Rachael Ray and I cannot wait...Gramma & Grampa cannot wait for their Emma time either! I am hoping that we can all go to church together that Sunday morning before they had back to Indiana too. Apparently the pastor had made a promise to preach from the roof if they were within their budget or something like that (Emma was fussing at the time...) and they did so on August 5th he will be preaching from the roof. They are also having a family cook out so I hope we can meet & visit with some other parents that day.

I am soooo going to get a picture up of Emma in the Vintage*Chic oufit we won from Chelsea's blog last month. Emma wore it to church last Sunday and was completely adorable! She also had a bit of a diaper blow out after church so it needed to be laundered prior to picture time but I promise to get a picture up soon!

So here are the random Emmacakes photos for the week...

Who knew the potty could be so fun? My parents bought her this potty for her birthday since she is so fascinated by everything in the bathroom. She loves to go in there and just sit on it. We haven't really been potty training or anything yet but we let her sit on it before she gets in the bath tub each night...and she actually "tinkled" in it last night for the first time! I know, I know too much info...I am such a Mommy!

Fun at the splash park!

We made it back to the splash park today and Emma loved it. She was all about running into it until the water splashes hit her and she came running back out. She seems to have a fickle love affair with the splashes! She loves it...she loves it not...she loves it!

It was such a gorgeous day for it too...sunny with a breeze. I was so worried about keeping sunscreen on Emma that I slouched on myself. Let's just say that my back is feeling a little toasty! Jon's parents and Ashlea and her kids joined us at the splash park a little later. Emma was about to crash about fifteen minutes after Noah & Peyton got there though. She was passed out in the car within minutes of us leaving!

We found a surprise on the doorstep when we got home...the package from Chelsea (Vintage*Chic) with our outfits. I love, love, love Emma's new Summer in the City set and the FREE set we won from her blog contest last month. Thanks Chelsea!

I'll try to get a picture of her in the FREE set later tonight so I can post it here. It is soooo cute...I absolutely love the Heather Bailey fabrics that she used to create it. :o)

Look closely...

Emma is 13 months old and we finally have pigtails...kinda sorta anyways! It was hard to get her to leave them alone so they are a little lopsided but pigtails all the same! I almost forgot to post about it...

Oh yeah...as you can see, we haven't gotten her off of the bottle yet. We are working on eliminating the first bottle of the morning but its not going all that well. We have plenty of time though!

So I think Emma likes the splash park...

Ashlea and I had plans to take Emma, Peyton & Noah to the local park's splash pad area this evening when I got off of work. She ended up having to cancel. So Jon decided to meet me over there and we'd take her ourselves even though I didn't have any type of swim wear for us -- I was planning on Emma going into splash around with Noah! Anyways, I thought I knew where it was but I turned left one light too early and I didn't realize that they shut the water off at 6:00 PM. We had Emma in her swimsuit , rubbed down with sunscreen and as we are approaching the splash pad the water shuts off. Emma toddled around splashing in the water on the ground and looking at us saying "dink, dink?" like why did it stop?! We have discovered that she doesn't think of just her sippy cup of water as a "dink" everything to do with water is a "dink." She always says "dink, dink" at bathtime but I thought it was because of the cup we use to pour water over her hair. Nope...apparently everything that is water is a "dink, dink" in Emma's world.

So Daddy picked her up after about ten minutes and headed back to the car...she started screaming and then came the crocodile tears. Talk about feeling like the worst mommy in the world. I had a great idea of fun but the timing backfired on me! She cried most of the way to Toot's where we had dinner. They serve a hotdog basket and icecream to kids and that seemed to put her in better spirits. She was a hit with the waitresses too! Daddy even asked her if Toot's made up for the water park and she was shaking her head no and smiling at me like she really knew what he was asking her! So tomorrow we will be filling her baby pool up and we might even make another trip to the park.

Oh yeah, Emma has a new word in her vocabulary...its Toot's!

Back home again

We are back from a whirlwind trip back home to see my family in Indiana. Time goes too fast when we are up there. My Mom and I hosted a "meet the baby" shower for my nephew, Peytonn. He was born eight weeks early so we just left the shower date the same so he would have his immunity build up. He is finally starting to look like a chubby little baby instead of a newborn! I could just cuddle him all day. Emma doesn't seem to know what to think of him though. We did manage to snap a few good pictures of my Mom & Dad with a wiggly Emma and sleepy Peytonn!

My parents are awesome grandparents and I wish Emma could be around them more often. Mom had cleaned up this old horse toy that I had when I was a baby. Emma loved it and she is such a little ham!

After the shower was over, we headed in to the fair. We had a Lemon Shake-Up and an Elephant Ear...yummo! I hadn't been to the fair in years. I do miss being around the barns and animals...the good ole 4-H years! I heard that Kelsey, Evan and Nate did really good this year. Emma was actually a part of Nate's photography entry and we got to see it. We even wandered down the midway and took Emma on a few of the kiddie rides. The carosel, the Dumbo ride and the train. Emma even plucked a duck from a pond to win a blue bouncey ball.

The sad part of our fair story is that her Princess Picasso outfit got ruined. Some grease fell from the machinery of the carosel and landed on Gramma and Emma. It is in splatters on her shirt and several places on the pants. We tried OxyClean and it didn't come out at all. We tried Dawn and it is washing right now. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it comes clean. I love that outfit and she has only worn it a handful of times! So any advice of cleaning black grease out of red and orange material? Amie, in a pinch, would you happen to have any of that material left?

I'll leave you with a cute picture of Nate and my sleeping punkinhead and wishes that the outfit comes clean tonight!
